George Lester Brownlow

George Lester Brownlow, son of James Madison and Sarah Elizabeth Brownlow, was born on March 14, 1880, in Bartow County. He moved with his family to Aragon about 1900. He married Grace Cornelius Gladden on April 11, 1909. They became the parents of Jewel Judson Brownlow, born July 27, 1910, married Dorsey Edgens and died in 1992; Mattie Elizabeth Brownlow, born July 15, 1915, married Clyde Haney, died December 16, In abt. 1917, Grace passed away. George then married Mellie May East, the daughter of William Daniel East and Susan Isabelle Rackley, on April 19, 1924. She was born February 9, 1903, and died February 27, 1988. They were the parents of Heflin Simmons Brownlow, born November 25, 1928, married Marie Maulding, died February 7, 1984; Madison Van Buren Brownlow, born October 20, 1932, married Betty Milhollen, and died March 30, 1991; Sarah Belle Brownlow, born February 7, 1937, married Tom Edwards and Edwin Jackson. George was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and a mason. He passed away July 24, 1955, and is buried in Prospect Cemetery between both his wives.
